1. What is the curriculum at OSOP? What will I learn?
The Oklahoma School of Photography offers two programs designed to train individuals to become self-employed or to work in the field. We have a photography program which includes several camera formats (including digital cameras), exposure and lighting controls, studio, product, wedding, etc. and complete darkroom through color printing. Our Digital Imaging program includes training in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe PageMaker, Adobe ImageReady, Adobe Acrobat, and QuarkXPress, as well as related programs and functions such as computer use, scanner use, and digital cameras.
2. How long is the course?
Our programs are 36 weeks long, which is approxiametly 9 months.
3. What are the hours required...when can I attend?
You are required to attend 24 hours per week. The school is open Monday through Thursday. Day hours are from 10AM to 4PM and evening hours are from 5PM to 11PM.
4. When can I start the program if I choose to enroll?
Because our program is modularly designed, you can start every other Monday that is not a major U.S. holiday.
5. What is modular training?
Modular training here means, you are basically in a class by yourself. It's as if you go to work with an instructor guiding, counseling, and continually critiquing your progress.
6. Is there any classroom work?
Yes, printing, developing, and other lab work as well as some assignments are done at the school.
7. Who are the instructors?
OSOP uses only professionals. Our instructors must have several years experience in their field before we will even consider hiring them.
8. What happens if I have to miss class?
Of course, we don't want you to be absent, however we realize that there may be an occasion arise that causes you to miss class.. illness, family, etc.. If this happens, you simply pick up your assignments where you left off.
9. Is there any homework?
Yes, because Photography requires a variety of subjects and lighting conditions there will usually be an assignment given each Thursday, although some assignments will be completed during normal class hours.
10. How good is the schools job placement assistance?
Excellent. Our placement rate is always very high... and has been that way for over 32 years. We believe there are several factors for this high placement rate:
a. OSOP is known for graduating well-trained, qualified people. Longevity and quality are two reasons employers continually call us for our graduates.
b. Our job placement staff works extremely hard helping place our graduates. They help students prepare their portfolios, compose their resumes, and provide them with current leads to employers seeking OSOP graduates.
11. I want to enroll, what now?
It's easy! Just decide which Monday you want to start...come in and fill out the enrollment papers, and you are ready to go!
12. How do I know I have the talent to do this?
It's a learned skill, and as long as you have the initiative and drive to be a photographer or digital imagist OSOP can help you achieve your very best.
13. How do I know what you are telling me is true?
Check us out. We are extremely proud of our 32 years of outstanding reputation. You need to know that. Call around to photography studios, our students, even the "Better Business Bureau", we know what you will find out, but you need to know. We want you to be sure you are in the right school before you make a decision. When you are ready just give us a call.
